Standard Possession Order in Texas December 2022

| Chris Schmiedeke |

Hello, everyone. Welcome back to a review of December 2022 under the Texas Standard Possession Order. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. So now let’s see what the month looks like for the custodial parent and the non-custodial parent for Christmas 2022.

Okay, here’s the December 2022 calendar. If this is your first visit, Custodial Parent, you are in blue. Non-Custodial Parent You are in yellow. It was not a good month last month, November, for the Non-Custodial Parent as it was the Custodial Parent’s Thanksgiving. However, this month is looking a lot better.

So Thursdays, you will have December 1st, December 8th, and December 15th, Non-Custodial Parent, and of course you will have the 22nd. But that is encompassed inside of your Christmas visitation. For weekends you will have the first Friday of the month, which will be December 2nd to December 4th, and you will have the third Friday of the month, which is December 16th, and most likely also at the beginning of the Christmas possession schedule.

So let’s talk about Christmas. If Christmas – your child is dismissed on the 16th, this is when my child is dismissed – so I’m just using my child as an example. It is impossible for me to know every school district’s calendar in the state of Texas for someone who may be reviewing this.

But assuming your child is released on the 16th Non-Custodial Parent, you would get the child on the 16th when they’re released from school for the Christmas vacation. And it would continue on down here to December 28th at noon, which is the transfer for Christmas under the standard possession order.

If for some reason the child is not released on the 16th for your school and you would need to look at your independent school district calendar to determine this. Say, for instance, the child isn’t released until the 21st, then Non-Custodial Parent, it is still your third Friday. So you would get the 16th, the 17th and the 18th.

Custodial parent, you would pop in here for the 19th and the 20th and non-custodial parent. You would start your Christmas vacation on the 21st if that was the day they were released and then everything else would be the same.

Custodial parent you would get December 28th at noon this year. And of course, that is going to roll into the new year.

Okay. So that’s the month of December. Again, I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. Happy New Year to everyone. It’s been a great year. I hope you’ve enjoyed these videos.
